The muscles from Brussels has finally touched down on Aussie soil. But so far it’s been no glam for Van Damme. Post a missed flight last week and his rejection of Aussie media in Thailand earlier, JCVD arrived this morning, some 45 minutes later than his reported arrival time. Here to appear on his speaking tour, An Evening With Jean-Claude Van Damme: Unscripted & Unplugged – which will be hosted by Richard Wilkins at The Star, Sydney on Wednesday August 24 and at The Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre on Sunday August 28 – the Hard Target star intends to amaze audiences and fans. Sort of a biographical tour, JCVD will take audiences through his amazing life as a film star, action hero, movie director, screenwriter, producer, martial arts champion, and bodybuilder.

Not befitting his celebrity status, JCVD (whose new meta action comedy TV series, Jean-Claude Van Johnson, will debut as part of Amazon’s pilot season) arrived without an entourage, pushing his own luggage cart. Dressed in a flamboyant Louis Vuitton jacket, he appeared camera shy, and literally ran towards the car entourage waiting for him. It seems that the action superstar is here only to enthral his fans.
In addition to opportunities for fans in Sydney and Melbourne to have a meet-and-greet and photograph with the superstar, there is more good news – Jean-Claude Van Damme’s arrival in Sydney follows his wrapping up of the much anticipated actioner, Kickboxer: Retaliation, the sequel to the Kickboxer movie in the rebooted franchise.

brisbane loves jcvd too shame
15 years ago I saw JCVD at Brussels airport, pushing his cart alone. Nobody recognised him. When he noticed his photo being taken, he grew 3 inches taller, and his chest protruded a fraction.
He’s a human like all of us.
