The Australian Screen Editors Guild is celebrating two decades of recognising excellence within Australia’s post-production community.

The first Ellie Awards started in 2006 with four awards (Feature Drama, Documentary, Television Drama and Short Film) and has since grown to encompass 18 awards across many disciplines. The Ellie Awards evolve to reflect the shifting screen landscape in Australia and recognise the vital role Editors play in shaping story, performance, and pacing.

The full list of nominees has been announced.

ASE President Scott Walmsley said of the occasion, “The Australian Screen Editors is proud to celebrate 20 years of the Ellie Awards, championing the vital contribution Editors and the wider post production community make to the screen industry.

Contrary to popular opinion, great editing isn’t invisible. It’s creative, transformative and essential to how stories are told.

The Ellies showcase the extraordinary breadth of talent across Australia, with awards spanning 18 categories, while also welcoming our newest accredited members who have demonstrated a strong career of excellence and dedication to the ASE community.

Most importantly, the Ellie Awards are a night for the entire post production community to come together and celebrate two decades of excellence. Whether you’re an Editor, Assistant Editor, Post Producer, VFX Editor, Colourist, student, or one of the many other professionals who bring a production to life, you’re part of this community and we’d love to see you there.”

The Ellie Awards will be held at the NSW Teachers Federation Conference Centre in Surry Hills on Saturday 5th December.
