WORLD PREMIERE OF STEVEN KASTRISSIOS’ GROUNDBREAKING FANTASY EPIC ‘SKYBREAKER’ TO HEADLINE THE 2026 SYDNEY SCIENCE FICTION FILM FESTIVAL

The 2026 Sydney Science Fiction Film Festival is thrilled to announce the highly anticipated World Premiere of SKYBREAKER, the latest feature from acclaimed visionary director Steven Kastrissios. The screening is set to take place on October 10 at 6:00 PM at EVENT Cinemas George Street.

SKYBREAKER marks a historic cinematic milestone, representing the very first major fantasy film to be shot on location in Albania with a local cast and crew. Utilising the country’s breathtaking, untamed landscapes and rich atmospheric vistas, the Australian-born Kastrissios, who burst onto the scene with the cult thriller THE HORSEMAN, has crafted a sweeping and entirely unique visual experience that will transport audiences to a world unlike any other seen in the genre.

At the heart of this groundbreaking epic is a powerhouse performance by local Albanian actress Xhulia Musagalliu. Stepping into her first major lead role, Musagalliu anchors the ambitious fantasy narrative with raw emotional intensity, bringing an authentic and commanding presence to the screen.

To celebrate this exclusive premiere, director Steven Kastrissios will be returning to Australia for the first time in a decade to present the film in person. Kastrissios will walk the red carpet and introduce the film at EVENT Cinemas George Street, offering Sydney audiences an exclusive first look at his most ambitious project to date.
