Join us at The Capitol for the premiere of three revolutionary d/Deaf-accessible music videos from The Legend of Queen Kong, followed by a star-studded panel exploring queer music, film and access.
A queer, genre-defying visual album born from a 12-year creative odyssey, The Legend of Queen Kong blends archival footage, animation, screen art and live performance to reimagine the music video as a space for queer myth-making, visibility and access.
The screening will be followed by Queering the Music Video, a panel moderated by RMIT University’s Cerise Howard, featuring musician Cash Savage, Fat Fruit artists and directors Sarah Ward, Bec Matthews and The Huxleys, with special guest Dr Stayci Taylor (RMIT University) and a video message from Deaf artist Asphyxia.
Live performances from Sarah Ward and Bec Matthews will be woven throughout the evening. The event will be Auslan-interpreted by Dr Kirri Dangerfield and Khang Chiem and is accessible to d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing audiences.
