Xquip, a new Australian peer-to-peer marketplace for film gear and crew, has launched a student offer giving film and screen students 12 months of free Pro membership.

Founded by VCA Film & Television graduate Joe D’Onghia, Xquip lets filmmakers hire gear locally from other owners, get booked as crew, or post what they need for a shoot and have local people come to them — with no agency margin. Owners can list idle equipment to earn between jobs.

The student offer, available to students at any Australian film school, TAFE or university screen program, unlocks Pro Starter (list up to five items) free for 12 months by ticking “I’m a student” at signup.

“The problem I had at VCA in 1988 hasn’t changed — students need gear and crew for their projects, have no budget, and the equipment store is booked out at deadline,” D’Onghia said. “Xquip is built to fix exactly that, and to give working crew and gear owners a local market.”

Xquip is free to join and free to list. Details: https://xquip.com.au/?utm_source=filmink&utm_medium=notice&utm_campaign=student_offer
