Ten years after leaving Australia to pursue her career overseas, actor Kate Winter has returned home to land a major supporting role in Paramount+’s new original drama Dalliance.

Produced by Roadshow Rough Diamond, Dalliance follows retired cameraman Billy (Hugo Weaving) who unexpectedly crosses paths with chef Dani (Heather Mitchell). An instant connection threatens to unravel decades of friendship and family. As one life-changing event sends shockwaves through an entire community, marriages are tested, new relationships ignite, old wounds resurface, and everyone is forced to confront the choices that have shaped their lives.

Cast as Emma Brennan, Winter joins an outstanding ensemble cast including AACTA award winner Heather Mitchell (Narrow Road to the Deep North, Love Me, Fake), two-time Gold Logie winner Georgie Parker (Home & Away, All Saints), six-time AACTA winner Hugo Weaving (Slow Horses, Patrick Melrose, Love Me), Silver Logie winner David Wenham (Fake, Elvis), Wayne Blair (Kangaroo, Redfern Now), Catherine McClements (The Family Next Door, The Survivors), Carolyn Bock (Wentworth), Russell Dykstra (Rake, Ladies In Black), Kirk Torrance (The Pact, Dark Horse), Ryan Panizza (Anyone But You), Tess Bowers (He Had It Coming), David Roberts (Colin From Accounts, The Matrix Revolutions) and John Doyle (Roy and H.G.).

“I joined the Avengers of Australian screen, and feeling grateful is an understatement. I’m incredibly proud of what we created and know audiences will resonate with my beautiful family and our story,” said Winter.

Following her drama school training, Winter relocated to the United Kingdom, where she spent almost a decade steadily building an impressive career across screen and stage, with credits including The Witcher and The Gentlemen.

Just two weeks after returning to Australia, she secured the role of Emma Brennan in Dalliance.

For any actor, earning a place within an ensemble of this calibre is a significant professional milestone. For Winter, it represents the opportunity to bring the experience she has gained overseas back to Australian screens, while working alongside performers whose careers have helped shape the country’s film and television landscape.

“After many years of being away, it’s good to be home telling Australian stories,” Winter reflects.

For Winter, Dalliance marks an exciting new chapter: a return to Australian storytelling, a major new screen role, and the chance to take her place among some of the country’s most celebrated performers.

Created by John Edwards, Heather Mitchell, Pip Karmel and Liz Doran, and produced by John Edwards, Heather Mitchell and Dan Edwards. The series is executive produced by Paramount Australia’s Head of Scripted and Comedy, Sophia Mogford, and Pip Karmel, who also serves as story producer. The writing team includes Pip Karmel, Jock Serong, Christopher Lee and Liz Doran, with Matthew Saville and Emma Jackson directing.

Dalliance is supported by Screen NSW’s Made in NSW TV Drama Fund.

Dalliance premieres exclusively on Paramount+ on 27 August 2026.
