The chilling new Aussie folk horror flick Pelverata will screen at Melbourne’s Eclipse Cinema with director Mark Lipkin in attendance for a special Q&A session.

A chilling, thrilling eco-folk horror film that cuts right to the heart of Australia’s relationship with its often-foreboding environment, Pelverata provokes terror and thought in equal measure. Directed by prolific indie filmmaker Mark Lipkin, this low-budget wonder is set in the thick, lush forests of Tasmania, and follows surveyors Misha (Charley Hur) and Myaree (Carina Parsons), who face a series of eerie disturbances, which slowly tear away at the fringes of their mission. Misha’s mind frays; and Myaree hears ancestral echoes of a brutal past. Reality and the supernatural blur, threatening survival in a land where history’s scars whisper…and sometimes scream.
“Steeped into an unholy blend of eco-folk thriller/ horror, Pelverata delves deep into a multi-layered experience that explores isolation, mental health and the lasting impact historic genocide imparts eerily on the landscape,” says director Mark Lipkin.
To coincide with Pelverata’s digital release, the film will enjoy a very special screening at Melbourne’s Eclipse Cinema, with director Mark Lipkin on hand to take audiences through the creation and production of his compelling environmental horror opus.
