Bus Stop Films is thrilled to announce that celebrated Australian actor Daniel MacPherson has come on board as a proud Ambassador, joining a community dedicated to creating meaningful opportunities for people with disability in the screen industry.
Daniel is no stranger to Bus Stop Films. He stars in Hopeful Romantic, a short film produced through Bus Stop Films’ award-winning Accessible Filmmaking Program, alongside actors Chris Bunton and Rae Pastuzak who share the screen with this year’s Tropfest winning filmmaker, the talented Lianne Mackessy. The film is now streaming on Stan as part of the streamer’s commitment to sharing diverse stories. Daniel’s involvement in the film gave him firsthand experience with the talent, creativity, and determination of Bus Stop Films participants and left a lasting impression.
“Working on Hopeful Romantic was one of the most wonderful and memorable experiences of my career. The set was just buzzing with creativity and joy. Daniel says. “Everyone at Bus Stop Films are extraordinarily talented, dedicated filmmakers, and I am honoured to to be Ambassador to help with the incredible work this organisation does.”
Bus Stop Films CEO Tracey Corbin-Matchett OAM welcomed Daniel’s support.
“Daniel brought so much generosity and genuine connection to Hopeful Romantic, and he has continued to champion our participants and our mission ever since,” she said. “Having someone of Daniel’s calibre and character as an Ambassador means the world to our community. He embodies the kind of inclusive spirit that drives everything we do.”
Daniel MacPherson is one of Australia’s most accomplished and versatile screen performers, with an international career spanning features including Land of Bad and Poker Face as well as acclaimed dramas such as Apple TV+’s Foundation, Strike Back, APB, The Shannara Chronicles and The Bill.
Now Daniel is roaring on the big screen in a career defining performance in Beast, an Australian-made sports action film starring and co-written by Oscar winner Russell Crowe, which premiered last month and is coming soon to Stan. The film follows a retired MMA fighter’s journey of redemption and positions Daniel as a talent with both brute strength and powerful performance.
Daniel joins Ambassador Miguel Maestre OCM, celebrated Spanish Australian chef, and Patron Her Excellency the Governor-General Sam Mostyn AC, in championing Bus Stop Films’ mission to create a more inclusive screen industry and world at large.
Bus Stop Films (BSF) is Australia’s leading inclusive filmmaking not-for-profit social enterprise, delivering professional screen industry training, employment pathways, and creative opportunities for people with disability. Each week, more than 250 participants engage in BSF’s Accessible Filmmaking Program across 15 locations nationwide. BSF’s productions have screened at leading festivals and platforms around the world, and its employment initiatives including the Driving Change Employment Summit and Inclusive Producers Attachment Program are helping to transform the screen industry from the inside out.
