Film continues strong international sales following AFM launch; Q3 North American release planned
Blacktop International has secured a North American distribution deal for the psychological horror feature The Room Below, with Uncork’d Entertainment acquiring rights for the U.S. and Canada.
The deal follows the film’s market debut at the American Film Market (AFM) in November and comes as the title continues to attract strong buyer interest at the European Film Market (EFM), where Blacktop is finalising multiple additional territory sales.
Starring Golden Globe winner Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Alyssa Sutherland, Gilbert Bradman, Goran D Kleut, Lauren Grimson, Tristan McKinnon and Bobby Gilchrist, The Room Below is a psychological horror-thriller that blends elevated genre tension with a commercially driven premise. A Q3 North American release is planned.
“The Room Below has resonated quickly with buyers looking for cast-led, high-concept horror,” said JD Beaufils, President of Blacktop International. “We saw strong momentum coming out of AFM, and that interest has carried directly into EFM. Uncork’d is a great partner for the North American release, and we’re excited by the film’s continued international response.”
“The Room Below is a gripping, atmospheric thriller that stands out in the psychological horror space,” said Keith Leopard of Uncork’d Entertainment. “The film combines a strong cast with a tense, contained concept that audiences consistently respond to, and we’re thrilled to bring it to North American audiences later this year.”
Produced by Lunar Pictures in association with Valecroft, Tetrad Studios, Head Gear Films, CME and MIK Studios, the team behind the picture welcomed the announcement. Writer director Kurt Martin and producer Jim Robison of Lunar Pictures stated, “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Uncork’d to bring The Room Below to North American audiences.” They went on to state, “The response since AFM has been incredibly encouraging, and seeing the film continue to sell at EFM reinforces the appetite for elevated, cast-driven horror in the marketplace.”
Blacktop International continues sales on remaining international territories at EFM, with further announcements expected in the coming weeks.
