The WA Screen Culture Awards (WASCAs) proudly announce that submissions for their sixth annual celebration are now open. This year’s event will take place during the 2026 Revelation Film Festival between July 8th-19th.

The WASCAs are dedicated to recognising and honouring the exceptional talent and innovation within WA’s vibrant screen industry and across all moving image forms. It does so by breaking down creative silos, building platforms for discussion and showcasing the depth of the sector in Western Australia.

Richard Sowada, Director of the Revelation Perth International Film Festival, says, “when the Revelation festival started 29 years ago, one feature film was made in WA every 3 years. Today, the volume and quality of work is astonishing and difficult to keep up with, especially in the independent sector which is finding a real voice.”

Sowada further emphasises, “the WASCAs stands out as the only Australian awards event that acknowledges achievement and innovation across every facet of the screen industry – from traditional narrative and documentary formats to immersive experiences, gaming, and beyond. The WASCAs is about opening opportunity and highlighting creative risk and ambition, and we can’t wait to see the results.”

The 2026 WA Screen Culture Awards will also feature special screening programs of nominated works during the Revelation Perth International Film Festival in July, panels, Q&As, talks and networking opportunities at venues across Perth. Films will be judged by a panel of national and international industry professionals drawn from across the sector with open nominations for Independent Spirit and Outstanding Contribution to the Industry awards.
