Winner of the 2024 Ones To Watch program from Screen Producers Australia showrunner Amy Parry has been supported through Screen Australia and YouTube Australia’s Skip Ahead initiative to create THE RAINBOW BOP SHOW! for the hit YouTube channel, RAINBOW BOP.
Rainbow Bop is a digital-first story driven music channel created by Parry. Since its inception in 2023, Rainbow Bop has amassed over 47,000 subscribers and 2.5 million views across YouTube, with dedicated audiences across Facebook, Instagram and Spotify.
The channel will be releasing THE RAINBOW BOP SHOW! A 6 x 8 minute scripted series to accompany their new album, SONGS FOR A STORMY DAY across all its digital footprint.
Screen Australia Director of Narrative Content Louise Gough said “The team behind The Rainbow Bop Show! have a proven track record of creating fun, funky and engaging children’s content. Their latest project, with its charming premise to help children navigate their feelings, has the potential to open up important conversations with little hearts and minds everywhere.”
Parry, a writer/producer from the Sunshine Coast in South East Queensland, brings her experience across children’s programming (Development Producer, Bluey) and narrative content (her original scripted series is in development with UK based Lime Pictures) to the digital space.
“The six-part scripted series is the next evolution for the Rainbow Bop as a brand. We’re excited to be bringing a fresh perspective to the Australian children’s content landscape. One that delivers on quality scripted, narrative and music-driven content for Australian kids.” said Parry.
The channel has also been given a boost by Screen Queensland through its Channel Lab: Short Cuts Initiative, with the Rainbow Bop channel adding four new story based music videos to complement the channel’s expansion.
“Rainbow Bop exemplifies the bold, innovative work being created here in Queensland. Through our Channel Lab: Short Cuts Initiative, we’re proud to support local talent bringing world-class children’s content to screens and homes everywhere.” said Jacqui Feeney, CEO of Screen Queensland.
THE RAINBOW BOP SHOW! adds Ones to Watch alum Sara Taghaode as Producer for the project.
“Rainbow Bop has seen huge organic growth in the digital space, proving that creating kid-led content has extreme value. The Skip Ahead content is part of a bigger release plan to expand our footprint in the kids content arena, and we’re thrilled to be supported in our home territory.”
The Rainbow Bop Show! is supported by Screen Australia and YouTube Australia’s Skip Ahead initiative and premieres on the 10th of October.
