Jason Isaacs joins Occupation: Rainfall

The Harry Potter / The Death of Stalin / Star Trek: Discovery (pictured) actor has joined the impressive cast of the highly anticipated Queensland shot sequel.

When we recently spoke with Jason Isaacs about his role in Australian film Hotel Mumbai, he wasn’t joking when he recalled his time shooting Peter Pan on the Gold Coast. “I’m a total sucker for the sun and I do like looking at oceans. When I lived on the Gold Coast, I looked out at the ocean every day and there’s something incredibly calming and humbling about looking at the scale of a planet covered in water and remember that I’m nothing; my problems mean nothing.”

And he was back in Queensland to shoot Occupation: Rainfall, the sequel to Luke Sparke’s highly ambitious 2018 sci-fi feature Occupation, which saw an alien invasion in rural Australia, fought by ordinary townsfolk played by the likes of Dan Ewing, Stephany Jacobsen, Temuera Morrison, Izzy Stevens, Zac Garred, Rhiannon Fish, Ben Chisholm, Trystan Go and Charles Terrier.

In Occupation: Rainfall, Isaacs joins returning cast members Ewing, Morrison, Garred and Go, with Ken Jeong, Daniel Gillies, Lawrence Makoare, Vince Colosimo, Jet Tranter, Mark Coles Smith, Dena Kaplan, Katrina Risteska and David Roberts also in the sequel.

“Having Jason come on board is a dream come true,” said writer/director Luke Sparke. “He’s such a versatile actor and brings so much to his surprise role in the film. This final casting announcement rounds out such a large cast that all have moments to shine through this story that is epic in scope. I can’t wait to keep revealing more very soon.”
