Whether it’s the tinkling of celeste bells at the beginning of Harry Potter or the epic blast of brass that kicks off Star Wars, movie music moves. Movie music causes goosebumps, creates moments, builds tension and celebrates joy, heartache and triumph. THIS NOVEMBER the Queensland Symphony Orchestra (QSO) presents CINEMATIC, an experience of iconic movie music performed at the Concert Hall, QPAC which is guaranteed to move!
Themed ‘Fantastic Worlds’, this music experience will create high and low moments, happy and sad moments and transport audiences away. Some of the most famous movie scores featured include Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, How To Train Your Dragon, Babe, Star Trek: First Contact, Apollo 13, Back to the Future, Inception, Star Trek Into Darkness, The Incredibles and Avengers and more, paying tribute to award-winning composers whose music has shaped the success of many Hollywood blockbusters; think John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman, James Howard, John Powell, Howard Shore, Alan Silverstri plus more to be announced soon.
Cinematic will be conducted by movie music specialist Nicholas Buc. A recipient of the Brian May Scholarship for Australian film composers and holding a Master’s degree in Scoring for Films from New York University along with being a recipient of the Elmer Bernstein Award for film scoring, his is the perfect baton for this special concert.
