Can you keep a secret? Well, so can everyone who turns up in the Dundee trailer. Fake trailer, that is. We mean, it’s a Tourism Australia advertising campaign, right? Everybody knows that.
Even though it hasn’t officially been announced as such and everyone is just going along with what The Brisbane Times said, citing the every popular “industry sources”. Like, nobody involved has actually admitted it’s all bulldust. At all.
Still, almost certainly not a real movie. Probably. Really, we oughtta know.
Anyway, here’s the full trailer for Dundee: The Son of a Legend Returns Home, which, as previously reported, sees Danny McBride as the American son of the iconic Crocodile Dundee, heading bushward to find his old man. Notably, Dundee Senior Paul Hogan hasn’t fronted up in this thing yet, but Chris Hemsworth (as Wally Jr.) and Hugh Jackman (as the prime minister) have, and now we can add a rather staggering roster of talent who, if this thing is fake, have certainly not let anything slip: Margot Robbie, Isla Fisher, Ruby Rose, Liam Hemsworth, Jessica Mauboy, Luke Bracey, and – this is great – Russell Crowe as a scheming media mogul certainly not intended to resemble anyone living or dead.
But here’s another wrinkle: the director credited for this thing is veteran advertising shot-caller Steve Rogers, a man who has yet to direct a feature, yet has loads of award-winning commercials under his belt. So the scale tips back towards “probably an ad”.
But we would totally watch it if it were areal film.
Anyway, here’s Danny McBride vs a water buffalo:
