The Screen Makers Conference (SMC) today announced an impressive line-up of national marketplace representatives who will come to Adelaide to discover talent and hear pitches from local and interstate screen makers from 26 - 27 July at Adelaide’s Mercury Cinema.

Delegates who register for the full Screen Makers Conference program will be eligible to apply from Monday 10 June to pitch to production companies, broadcasters, streaming services and distributors at the conference marketplace.

A feature of last year’s conference that has returned by popular demand, the pitching market aims to facilitate strategic engagement between emerging screen practitioners and the national and international marketplace. It is an opportunity for writers, producers and directors to pitch a concept or early stage project to producers and production companies. It will also allow producers and teams with market-ready projects to pitch to a broadcaster, streamer or distributor to attract market interest.

The announcement includes Jo Rooney, Co-Head of Drama for the Nine Network, who has played a key role in the development, production and commissioning of the hugely successful mini-series Love Child, Here Come the Habibs, House Husbands, and Underbelly: Badness just to name a few.

Also announced is Edwina Waddy, who is responsible for assessing and developing all Australian and NZ projects for theatrical releases for Roadshow Films, and Todd Abbott, director of programs and development for Guesswork TV (Please Like Me, Rosehaven, Get Krack!n, The Weekly, Hard Quiz).

Media Resource Centre Director Gail Kovatseff said, “The marketplace is a fantastic opportunity for local and visiting interstate screen makers to pitch their ideas to some of the top representatives in the industry. Having all of these companies in the one room is a rare opportunity for creators at any stage of their career.”

Screen creatives who are interested in pitching a project are encouraged to register now for the full Screen Makers Conference program, and begin to prepare their pitch ahead of applications opening via the conference website on 10 June.
