Tonight the 19thannual Screen Producers Australia (SPA) Awards closed with an exciting announcement, with SPA CEO Matthew Deaner declaring that The Star Gold Coast will be the new home of SCREEN FOREVER, starting 17 – 19 November 2020.

“Australia’s Gold Coast has a long and proud tradition of film and television production, making it the ideal location to house Australia’s premier screen industry event for the next three years. The city’s array of filming locations, world-class Village Roadshow Studios, professional and highly skilled production crews and appealing Film Attraction Program provide a unique draw card for productions both locally and abroad.”

“Having established a flourishing relationship with The Star Gold Coast over the past two years while partnering on the TV WEEK Logie Awards Industry Seminar, I am excited to see how this new venue leaves our attendees inspired to tell authentic and compelling stories on screen.”

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said she was delighted Australia’s premier screen industry event was returning to Queensland.

“From 17 November 2020, Australia’s blockbuster capital will welcome more than 850 screen practitioners, engaging them in a three-day program discussing the industry’s latest trends and technologies,” Premier Palaszczuk said.

“Following the conference, I hope our interstate and international attendees will stay-on to explore the wonderful versatility of the region, from its natural beauty to its nightlife.”

Screen Queensland CEO Kylie Munnich said that hosting SCREEN FOREVER in Queensland provides an ideal platform to promote local screen content creators and projects while also continuing to attract productions to the state.

“Local screen content creators will have greater access to the marketplace and opportunities to pitch their ideas and projects to national and international screen industry decision makers.

“We’ll also show delegates our world-class screen studios and facilities that can meet the needs of small-scale film and TV productions right through to major international feature films and continue to build on our track record as a global production hub,” said Ms Munnich.

Mr Deaner also took the opportunity to once again thank Film Victoria and the Victorian Government for their patronage over the past eight years:

“This year’s event has been an absolute stand out and I am so glad to be ending our tenure in Melbourne on a high. I cannot thank Caroline and her team enough for their continued support since we made the move here in 2012. See you all in the Sunshine State next year!”
