SEEING DOUBLE ON THE BIG SCREEN: JIFF ANNOUNCES PROGRAM LAUNCH SCREENINGS
The Jewish International Film Festival (24 October – 21 November) will officially launch its program with the Australian Premiere of The Twinning Reaction on Sunday 23 September. Tickets are on sale now to the thrilling exposé on the tragically failed 1960’s experiment separating twins at birth, popularised by Sundance Special Jury Prize winner Three Identical Strangers.
The Sydney and Melbourne screenings will offer audiences the first look at the world-class cinematic gems screening in October and November. Full program tickets go on sale Monday 24 September.
“The Festival is thrilled to launch its full program this year with these special twin preview screenings,” said Jewish International Film Festival Artistic Director, Eddie Tamir. “The Twinning Reaction is the story behind the story, of the hugely popular documentary Three Identical Strangers, both born from the same story but ending up at very different conclusions – much like the films subjects themselves.”
“The film gives an excellent taste of the vibrant selection of over 60 films from 23 countries in this year’s program, which offer fascinating insights into global Jewish culture.”
The enthralling documentary examines not only several identical Jewish twins and triplets secretly torn apart at infancy, but the scientists behind the infamous experiment themselves. From their touching re-union stories to their splintered endings, director Lori Shinseki contemplates human destiny, and the ever-looming question of Nature versus Nurture.
