Reading Cinemas announces state-of-the art cinema complex for Millers Junction, Melbourne

Set to open June 17, 2021

Reading Cinemas Australia, part of Reading International, Inc, (“Reading”) today announced that it will open its most advanced Australian cinema complex at the expanded Millers Junction Village in Altona North, Australia on Thursday June 17.

Reading’s new complex will be the company’s first in Western Melbourne to feature full recliner seating in all auditoriums. A brand-new Premium offering with enhanced food and beverage will showcase Reading Cinemas Millers Junction as the Gold standard in Australian cinema. In addition, the complex will house two TITAN LUXE auditoriums with Dolby Atmos, 20-metre-wide screens and the latest in 4K Digital Projection equipment – providing an unparalleled theatrical experience for customers.

The new six-screen Reading Cinemas complex will be positioned within the Millers Junction shopping centre, on Millers Road Altona North. It will be the second brand new Reading complex to open in the past 6 months, following the successful launch at DFO Jindalee in Brisbane in December.

“We look forward to bringing the very best movie going experience to such a vibrant and rapidly expanding area of Melbourne,” said Mark Douglas, Reading Cinemas Australia’s Managing Director.

“Reading has established a fantastic customer base via our existing Melbourne locations, and we cannot wait to launch the company’s next generation of cinema with our partners Charter Hall at Millers Junction. We will be bringing Reading’s signature value pricing to the region, with tickets for a recliner seat starting at just $12. With content such as Fast and Furious 9, Cruella, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It and A Quiet Place: Part 2 – there’s never been a better line up of Blockbuster films to launch a new cinema complex with.”

Charter Hall’s Head of Diversified Development, Mr Ben Dodwell, said “Millers Junction has been a successful precinct development attracting national brands such as Woolworths, Bunnings and Officeworks, complementing the new Reading Cinemas complex. With the last surplus land soon to be pre-leased, the overall 60,000 square metre (645,000 square foot) precinct will be fully developed, and our original vision will have been realised.”

Ellen Cotter, President and Chief Executive Officer of Reading International, Inc. commented: “Reading is thrilled to be opening a brand-new Reading Cinema at Millers Junction, which is our 8th cinema in Victoria and 25th cinema in Australia. With reclining seats, two TITAN LUXE screens, state-of-the-art projection and sound and a premium food and beverage offer, we are elevating the cinema experience for moviegoers in Melbourne’s inner West.  nd, we’re so pleased to be opening this venue at a time when our communities need an entertaining escape.”
