MIDWOOD ISTANBUL FILM STUDIOS AND BOLLYWOOD PRODUCERS SLATE FIRST PROJECT AT STATE-OF-THE-ART COMPLEX IN TURKEY

Catering to the boom in traditional and digital production, Midwood Istanbul Film Studios will open its full-service, 125-acre complex in Turkey by the end of 2018. The studio announced the first production to utilise its location and services comes from Bollywood, an affirming step forward for the state of the art facility currently under construction.

Midwood’s Chairman of the Board and main investor, Ahmet San, hosted leading Bollywood producers, directors and screenwriters including David Dhawan, Rumy Jaffery, Shashi Ranjan and Rajat Rawail to give an in-depth presentation of the complex and incentive offerings. As a result of the visit, negotiations are nearly complete to bring a production to Midwood by the end of 2018.

The studio’s mission is to be the largest and most comprehensive production facility in Europe, and additional meetings with producers from China and the U.S. are underway to host additional productions in 2018-2019.

“It was a pleasure hosting this esteemed delegation from Bollywood,” said San. “The feedback about everything we offer, including a robust incentive program and a diverse visual landscape, was extremely positive. We are excited that a Bollywood film will be the first international project at Midwood and look forward to welcoming them soon.”

San is a well-known concert promoter and event producer in Turkey who has worked with the likes of Elton John and Michael Jackson, Madonna and Bill Clinton. San has been working with the Midwood project since its inception in 2012.

The most recent films to have been shot in Turkey include Argo, Inferno, Murder on the Orient Express and Skyfall.
