Michael Bentham’s feature debut DISCLOSURE secures ANZ distribution with Bonsai Films
“I’m very pleased to bring Disclosure to Australian audiences first at CinefestOZ and then to cinemas and other platforms subsequently. Although times are challenging, audiences are always open for original and topical content and Disclosure fits the bill” says Bonsai Films’ Jonathan Page.
Produced by Donna Lyon, Disclosure tells the unsettling story of two couples who go to war over a 4-year-old child’s allegation.
Disclosure bowed to rave reviews at Palm Springs International Film Festival in January, with artistic director Liliana Rodriguez predicting that Bentham’s provocative debut feature “would be one of the most talked about films this season”. Breaking Glass Pictures acquired North American distribution rights to Disclosure at Berlinale in February.
Huffpost film critic Brad Schreiber placed Disclosure in his top-10 highlights of Palm Springs, describing the film as “disturbing in the best possible way”, and noting the “chilling turn by Geraldine Hakewill”. FilmThreat’s Alex Saveliev compared Bentham’s debut to the films of Richard Linklater and Lynne Ramsay, adding “Disclosure marks the arrival of a talent to watch”.
Disclosure stars Mark Leonard Winter, whose credits include The Dressmaker and Top of the Lake. Rising star Geraldine Hakewill recently appeared as Chelsea Babbage in the hit Matchbox Pictures/Netflix series Wanted opposite Rebecca Gibney and as Peregrine Fisher in Ms Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries. Tom Wren (Secret City, The Inbetweeners 2) and Matilda Ridgway (Book Week) also star.
