Melbourne WebFest COVID-19 Update
Following the outbreak of COVID-19 and the developing situation around the world, Melbourne WebFest is keenly aware of the impacted web series community.
The festival has made the decision to extend the late submissions deadline to 23rd April (11:59pm PST) and reduce the associated fee.
The festival looks to promote, celebrate and support independent artists and filmmakers, and will strive to continue to do so during this difficult time.
In 2020, Melbourne WebFest will acknowledge web series creators, cast and crews with 25 award categories. Notable wins from 2019 include ABC iview series, Wrong Kind Of Black for 3 awards; Grand Jury Award, Best Australian Drama, Best Lead Actor and Aunty Donna’s Glennridge Secondary College for Best Australian Comedy.
Melbourne WebFest’s eight edition will be held 4-6 September 2020, and the program will be announced in June. At this stage the event will continue as planned, however, the festival will look at alternatives as required and provide updates as the situation is closely monitored.
WebFest’s Business Development Manager, Lauren Colosimo says ‘We always aim to make the festival as accessible as possible and it is more important than ever to support digital content creators and our community. We are excited to present the eighth annual MWF, no matter what form the event may be in.’
