Library Of Love Commences Principal Photography
Library of Love is an 11-minute musical romantic comedy written and co-directed byMiranda Edmonds and Khrob Edmonds. It tells the story of Isabelle – a librarian and hopeless romantic, who spends her days reading romance novels and dreaming of true love. But can she can pull her nose out of the books long enough to find love in the real world?
The film boasts an impressive crew including Director of Photography Jim Frater (The War That Changed Us, Murdoch), production designer Emma Fletcher (A Few Less Men, Blue Dog), composers Oscar Gross and Guy Gross (The Turning, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert), costume designer Lisa Gunning (A Few Less Men, The Shark Net), and award-winning choreographer Claudia Alessi.
The film stars LA-based Perth actress Trilby Glover (Righteous Kill, The Starter Wife) and Logie-nominee Ben Mortley (McLeod’s Daughters, Lantana, Drift). Ben recently landed the lead role in Jo-Anne Brechin’s Zelos, filming in January 2016.
Supporting cast includes songstress Alinta Carroll (An Accidental Soldier), Elwyn Edwards (Crush, Cloudstreet) and WAAPA musical theatre graduates, Jess Phillippi and Taryn Ryan.
According to the directors, it has been amazing to see the film come together.
“We dipped our toes into the world of film dancing with the incomparable Emma Booth in our last film Tango Underpants, but this is a whole new level with four song and dance numbers.
“Thanks to our clever choreographer, hardworking composers and ridiculously talented cast, I’m relieved to say that it’s looking spectacular. Next stop is principal photography,” said Miranda.
“It never occurred to me that making a musical would have so many additional challenges, but still be so much fun!” said Khrob.
“Living in San Francisco and having shot our last film in Argentina, it is great to be back in Perth working with family and friends. It’s a massive bonus that it coincides with Christmas!”
Library of Love successfully raised $21,360 via Pozible in June 2015. It was further supported by an additional $10,000 contributed by Creative Partnerships Australia as part of their MATCH program. The crowdfunding campaign was supported by more than 100 supporters, including AFI-winning Perth actress, Emma Booth (Underbelly, Glitch, Clubland).
Produced by Estelle Buzzard (The Lifeguard, Missing Pieces), Maya Kavanagh andMeg McPherson, Library of Love is being filmed at Hale School Forest Library until 23 December.
