George Miller And David Stratton at Chauvel Cinema

The pair will discuss French and Australian cinema in what is sure to be a very memorable discussion.

Palace Cinemas will host Academy Award-winning Director, George Miller and David Stratton in conversation on Wednesday 9 March at the Chauvel Cinema, 6pm for 6.15pm.

Back from the Oscars, the renowned director George Miller, also President of the 2016 Cannes International Film Festival will be joining us for a conversation with the acclaimed film critics David Stratton. The pair will discuss French and Australian cinema and the many merits of both.

The annual French Film Festival has become the most popular national film event in Australia, which should come as no surprise given the consistently rich and diverse quality of French film production. Few countries have managed to face up to the Hollywood juggernaut that swamps the world’s cinemas, but in France American films screen alongside an equal number of French films, from comedies to thriller to intimate psychological dramas. France was a pioneer of cinema, and the French have never wavered in their love for the medium. The worldwide popularity of French cinema is the result, and once again this year the Festival is screening a representative selection of new films, with something to please everyone.

Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased from the Palace Cinema Chauvel or Palace Norton Street box office or by visiting the Palace Cinemas website: https://www.palacecinemas.com.au/sessiontimes/session/170/41631/
