Friday May 17 Announced As Melbourne WebFest Program Launch Date
The event will encourage networking amongst digital creators, web series cast and crew alike, and offer a platform for the announcement of this year’s selection of series into the program.
Last year’s launch announced 85 selected series, including notable Australian selections such as Homecoming Queens, featuring Liv Hewson and Michelle Law, Plonk, featuring The Chaser’s Chris Taylor, Freudian Slip Small Town Hackers and Aunty Donna the Album.
What: The Melbourne WebFest Program Launch will announce series selections that will feature during the Melbourne WebFest Program July 18 – 21. Selected series span across 3 categories; Official Selection, Spotlight Selection (series made on a budget of less than $50, 000 USD) and Student Showcase.
When: Friday May 17, doors open 7:00pm for an 8:00pm start.
Where: RMIT University Media Portal. Building 14 Melbourne City Campus, accessible from corner of Franklin St & Swanston St.
Who: Melbourne WebFest programming is proudly supported by RMIT University, Screen Australia, xGrowth, OzFlix and ABC iView.
Why: The 2019 festival saw over 200 web series submissions the festival, resulting in a large creative community eager to attend and hear the news.

“This year the festival has gone through a metamorphosis, and we’re looking to engage with both new audiences and new technologies to help our mission of telling great stories via the web. We’re looking forward to experiencing everything the 7th volume of Melbourne WebFest has in store.”
