Freshflix started with a couple of mates wanting to show good films to their friends in the backyard. Since our humble beginnings in Freshwater, our past events have set the tone with a blazing sunsets, live music and art and a heck of a cinematic experience…
One set on a clifftop amidst the distant roar of crashing waves, another two warehouse parties with a Japanese food truck and banging great inner city vibes, a banquet feast followed by a film party in a craft brewery and our most recent in Los Angeles at the historical Raleigh Studios. Our 2018 season is set to be our best yet, in the Harbourside room of the MCA with stunning views of Circular Quay on the opening weekend of Vivid Sydney.
The Freshflix Emerging Filmmakers’ Conference will include an afternoon of sessions geared toward the emerging and student filmmaker. Hear from filmmaker teams who have just cracked the industry with their first major breakthrough project, including Thomas Wilson White (The Greenhouse, 2018), Alice Fulcher (That’s Not Me, 2017), Erin Good and Taylor Litton-Strain (Jade of Death webseries, 2017), and Kacie Anning (Fragments of Friday, The Other Guy 2015). In the Wizards of Aus session moderated by Claudia Pickering (Frisky, 2017), the people behind our screen funding bodies, film financiers and industry producers will dish out insider tips on how to work the system. Big wigs include Polly Staniford (Producer – Aquarius Films), Ron Brown (CEO – OzFlix), and Rosie Lourde (Investment Manager of Online Production – Screen Australia). To top of the afternoon, attendees will be able to mingle with industry professionals and have a window to ask their burning questions and make their mark in an Industry Speed Dating networking session.
As the sun sets over Sydney Harbour the Freshflix Short Film Festival will bring the best of Australian and International shorts to the silver screen.
All ticket holders will have the chance to take home lucky door prizes from Rode microphones, WIFT (Women In Film & Television Australia), Camera Hire, production music, OzFlix TV and Final Draft.
