Director Gracie Otto to screen her ‘Soho House North American script incubator’ winning film Desert Dash at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival

Director Gracie Otto to screen her ‘Soho House North American script incubator’ winning film Desert Dash at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival

Director Gracie Otto is the 2018 winner of Soho House North American script incubator program which was judged by Barry Jenkins, Sean Baker and Bruce Wagner in partnership with IWC watches.

Her winning film Desert Dash that she also wrote was awarded a US$20k grant and an opportunity to screen at Toronto Film Festival.

Desert Dash was shot in Lightning Ridge, NSW, Australia, July this year and follows a feisty heroine, stuck in a computer game where Opals are the currency for survival and the stakes to win are high. The film is dedicated to the late Samantha Rebillet.

Gracie directs and stars in the film with a cast that includes Krew Boylan, Damian Walshe- Howling and Darcey O’Brien (daughter to Miranda Otto , Peter O’Brien) making her film debut.

Desert Dash is produced by Jessica Carrera for Dollhouse Pictures, Craig Deeker for Gingerbread Man and Gracie Otto for Ralf Films.

Gracie will represent the film at a special Toronto Film Festival screening.

Gracie’s upcoming projects include her debut feature Girl in Hotels and the documentary Otto on Otto about her father eccentric artist Barry Otto.
