The Ambitious and Surreal Short Dark Water Needs Your Help

A new short film will explore a deep-sea environment that unexpectedly manifests in the walls of a grieving woman’s suburban dwelling.

Dark Water, the third short film from artist-filmmaker duo Erin Coates and Anna Nazzari, is their most ambitious to date.

The film follows the narrative of Gemini, a young woman who discovers a secret from her mother’s past. As she unravels this mystery she is drawn into a flooded, inner-architecture within her house.

Dark Water draws on the fimmakers’ interest in local marine ecosystems and is an exploration of both human loss and our deep concerns over habitat loss within our oceans.

This darkly surreal short film is due to be shot soon and involves submerging an entire set in a diver training pool. So far the team have raised 80% of the funds needed to cover cast, crew, set and equipment, but are crowdfunding the remainder. Check out their Indiegogo campaign here and chip in to help bring this ambitious film to life.

Campaign closes September 5, 2018.
