Okay, pay attention, Peter Rabbit – this is how it’s done.
2014’s Paddington was an absolutely please, much to our surprise, and it looks like the impending sequel is going to continue in the same vein. Ben Whishaw returns to voice the Peruvian bear, now well ensconced in picture-book-perfect London and keen to buy a rare book for his Aunt Lucy’s 100th birthday. This sees him cross paths with a dastardly thief (Hugh Grant, clearly having a ball) before being framed for theft and banged up in the big house, where we meets Brendan Gleeson’s curmudgeon-with-a-heart-of-gold (We’re guessing, but come on…).
Boy, the Christmas dinner conversation at the Gleeson house could be a bit terse this year…
Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Brendan Gleeson, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent, and Peter Capaldi co-star, while Paul King (The Mighty Boosh, The Bunny and the Bull) is once again calling the shots. Paddington 2 is in Australian cinemas from December 21, 2017.
