Monster Fest Announces Final Titles for the Adelaide Travelling Sideshow!

June 29, 2018
More gory goodies for discerning ghouls!

With a scant month to go before MONSTER FEST TRAVELLING SIDESHOW brings the gore to Adelaide’s GU Film House, the final program additions have been released, and there are some heavy hitters among them.

Having blitzed Fantasia International Film Festival, Summer of 84 will make its Australian Premiere as the Closing Night Film.  From François Simard, Anouk Whissell, and Yoann-Karl Whissell, the team behind Turbo Kid, Summer of 84 is part detective story and part cat-and-mouse game, as it follows a 15 year old who suspects the local cop may be a serial killer.

Straight from South by Southwest, Unfriended: Dark Web makes its Australian Premiere at Monster Fest.  Following on from the  wildly successful 2014 film, Stephen Susco’s stand alone sequel pushes the boundaries of the found footage format as a young man discovers some disturbing video files on the laptop he salvaged from a dumpster – with predictably spooky results.

Having blown audiences away at the Sydney Film Festival and just about to hit Revelation Film Festival, Lynne Ramsay’s sublime vigilante drama You Were Never Really Here heads for South Australia. Starring Joaquin Phoenix, the film confidently walks a tightrope between hypnotic neo-noir and brutal revenge thriller.

In association with Umbrella Entertainment comes the Worlds on Film: Beyond Genres Blu-ray launch of Razorback! Remastered in glorious 4K HD, this marks a rare opportunity to see Russell Mulcahy’s 1984 killer pig movie on the big screen.

Also added to the slate: a special 25th anniversary screening of Rolf de Heer’s Bad Boy Bubby,  hosted by Bubby himself, actor Nicholas Hope; plus the South Australian premiere of  Wolfman’s Got Nards, a lovingly crafted feature-length documentary on the enduring legacy of the 1987 kids horror classic, The Monster Squad – paired with a special retrospective screening of the Fred Dekker/Shane Black paean to Universal Monsters itself.

Monster Fest Travelling Side Show Adelaide runs at the GU Film House from July 27 – 29. For info and tickets, shoot over to the official site.
