Miles Teller is Back in the World in Thank You For Your Service

June 21, 2017
Returned servicemen discover that the toughest battle is on the home front.

Based on David Finkel’s non-fiction book of the same name, Thank You For Your Service sees Miles Teller (Whiplash) as a returned serviceman wracked with PTSD who has trouble readjusting when he returns home from deployment in Iraq. Haley Bennett (The Girl on the Train), Joe Cole (Peaky Blinders), Amy Schumer (Trainwreck), Beulah Koale, Scott Haze (Midnight Special), Keisha Castle-Hughes (Whale Rider), Brad Beyer, Omar J. Dorsey (Django Unchained), and Jayson Warner Smith (The Walking Dead) co-star. Actor-turned screenwriter Jason Hall (he was the lead singer of Dingoes Ate My Baby in Buffy!) is making his directorial debut.

This could be interesting if it stays on the right side of mawkishness, but that trailer is definitely pinging on that very American tendency to lionise military service – hopefully the actual film is a more balanced and nuanced affair. eOne has the Australian rights, with a theatrical release penciled in for later in 2017.
