2012’s Johnny Ghost was a a true ‘head’ movie, a black and white micro-budget effort about a young woman whose past haunts her in fascinating cinematic ways. The film found a limited but appreciative audience, especially with cinephiles who recognised the inherent cinematic lineage. Now, Donna McRae returns with Lost Gully Road which follows Lucy, who travels to a cottage in the forest to wait for her sister. With no communication to the outside world, she spends the time alone, until an unexpected host decides to keep her company…
Like her previous film, McRae looks to couch a personal comment on our world through the guise of a genre film, just the way we like it!
Lost Gully Road features Adele Perovic (The Code) in the lead role and Eloise Mignon, John Brumpton and Jane Clifton in support. Cinematography is courtesy of Laszlo Baranyai, production design is by visual artist Michael Vale, and the score courtesy of Dave Graney and Clare Moore.
Check out this little teaser and watch out for the film later on this year.
