Now this is a fun concept for a slasher flick – Jessica Rothe’s college party girl gets murdered on her birthday, only to wake up intact and relive the same day over and over again, memories intact, giving her the opportunity to try and solve her own murder. Fans of Rothe (she was in La La Land) are in for a treat, as she’s likely to be in pretty much every scene. Rothe haters (and surely they are few in number at this stage of her career) are also in for a treat, as she’s getting utterly murderised in every second scene. Win/win.
Director Christopher Landon did Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, but we won’t hold that against him. This looks like a good time. Happy Death Day is in Australian cinemas from October 12, 2017.
