Futuristic Dystopia Looks Awesome in the New Altered Carbon Trailer

January 12, 2018
Seriously, why can't we have that one? This one sucks.

Hyper-violent, hyper-sexualised, hyper-cynical, and a pitch perfect blend of noir pulp and smart SF concepts – that’s Richard Morgan’s bravura debut novel, Altered Carbon, now a 10 episode Netflix series.

It’s 300 years in the future, and human consciousness can be recorded, downloaded, and transferred between bodies, Joel Kinnaman, making great strides in apologising for Robocop and Suicide Squad, is Takeshi Kovacs, the super-soldier-turned-mercenary criminal decanted into a fresh corpus 250 years after he was gunned down and tasked with solving the murder of tycoon Laurens Bancroft (James Purefoy) – who, thanks to a backup system, is still alive, but would very much like to know which of his wealthy, jaded associates iced him. Violence and intrigue ensue.

The book is an absolute ball-tearer, and it’s the first of a trilogy, so we can look forward to more on screen Takeshi Kovacs adventures in the future, in the meantime,  Altered Carbon drops on February 2, 2018.
