Everything is Connected in the 2.22 Trailer

February 16, 2018
Call it fate, call it luck, call it karma...

What if Final Destination was a love story? What if Russell Crowe’s character in A Beautiful Mind solved mysteries ala The Dead Zone? What if Donnie Darko wasn’t quite so try-hard? These are the questions that haunt us following our look at the trailer for the metaphysical mystery that is 2.22, which is directed and produced by Australian Paul Currie.

As the official precis tells us, “In 2:22, Australia’s Teresa Palmer (Hacksaw Ridge, Warm Bodies) stars alongside Game of Thrones’ Michiel Huisman in a story of love that will not die and lovers who may not survive.
Air traffic controller Dylan (Huisman) lives his life each day with consistent precision, but nevertheless senses something is missing. An ominous pattern of events becomes evident as it starts to repeat itself in exactly the same manner, at exactly 2:22pm every day.

“When he crosses paths with the beautiful Sarah (Palmer) they both feel a sense of connection, but little do they know they share a bond that transcends time itself.”

Dendy are handling distro on this one, giving it a limited release through their theatres on, appropriately enough, February 22, before it hits digital via Dendy direct on February 28 – the same small window distribution model that gave us the likes of Shot Caller, Blade of the Immortal, and The Limehouse Golem – all of which are worth your time.

The only thing that gives us pause is that, with a domestic take of US$422, 2.22 is the lowest grossing film released theatrically in the States in 2017 – which is a dubious honour indeed. Christ, it doesn’t look that bad…
