It’s a while before we get to see Jodie Whittaker take on the title role of Doctor Who for realsies, but the good folks at the BBC have released a teaser trailer to whet our appetites before Season 11 of the reboot series begins in earnest later this year (October has been bandied about but is unconfirmed).
The new season brings with it many changes, the most obvious being that Peter Capaldi is out and Whittaker is in, and this is the first time a woman has played the Doctor, a decision that has riled up the usual gang of idiots. Also out is longtime showrunner Steven Moffat, with Broadchurch writer Chris Chibnall taking up the reins. We’re also getting a new trio of companions, played by Tosin Cole, Mandip Gill, and Bradley Walsh, who you can see each trying to get their nosh on before they’re interrupted by some kind of spooky time-lightning in the teaser.
And this is the very definition of “teaser”, team – if you can figure out any plot details from this brief clip, you’re doing well. The rest of us will have to wait until Doctor Who returns later this year.
