Warner Home Video. On shelves November 6.
Randall Wallace (who wrote Braveheart) remains with the battlefield theme, in this harrowing story of how the Vietnam War affected everyone, with the film giving the perspective of both the American soldiers and the Viet Cong army, as well as the grieving mothers and wives back home. Lt. Colonel Moore (Mel Gibson) is the story's central figure, as he deals with the sheer futility of the battle, losing many young men he regards as his own sons, whilst back home, his wife Julie (Madeline Stowe) must deliver the bad news to the young war widows. Superbly acted (by Barry Pepper and Chris Klein among others), We Were Soldiers is a gory, emotional look at the consequences of war.
