Columbia Tristar Home Entertainment. Out January 21.
Bruce Willis channels John Wayne in this pile of "Americans saving the universe" codswallop, scowling silently the whole way through the film. His elite military rescue team is sent into a hostile African jungle to extract a European doctor (Monica Bellucci), who refuses to go unless they take all her patients. Of course they defy orders and walk the lot of them heroically out. Tears Of The Sun is by turns both suspenseful and sad, and comes with a powerful score and technical deftness; if you can swallow the jingoism without retching, you might get through it, but in light of recent American military action, it's almost a sick joke.
