"...an enjoyably trashy straight to the shelf action movie..."

Following the murder of his wife and daughter, Ryan Varrett (Steve Austin) goes from cop to vigilante as he hunts down all those responsible for their deaths. Arriving in the small town of Hope on the Canadian border on the trail of Rex (Noel Gugliemi), Varrett gets more than he bargained for when he learns Rex is the Sargent At Arms for The Circle bikie gang. Headed by Rex's psychopathic older brother, Drayke (Danny Trejo), The Circle run everything in Hope from the drugs and gambling to even the local police. Before you can say slow motion explosion, Varrett and Drayke are on a collision course that sets the town ablaze.

Although prosaic for the most part, Recoil does have a few moments of Point Blank and Payback as Austin administers his own brand of brutal justice to the criminal miscreants. Danny Trejo is as badass as ever while Austin is surprisingly good for once. Admittedly even though Recoil is unlikely to win an Oscar, or anything for that matter, it's still an enjoyably trashy straight to the shelf action movie that delivers plenty of stuff exploding and pithy one liners to satisfy even the most discerning of trashophiles.
