Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. SRP: $39.95.
The Film > Terri Fletcher (Hilary Duff) is a sparky ingénue from the Arizona boonies who heads to Tinsel Town for a three-week music camp. The savvy LA girls bag her, but she gets very cozy with a good-natured Brit named Jay (Oliver James). Terri picks up another fan in John Corbett's inspiring music teacher, who plays the cello like an electric guitar and tells Terri to rip up the rule book (he's probably just angling for a quickie with The Duffenator himself.) Terrified of alienating its core audience, the pure prefab Raise Your Voice is without a moment of mayhem or a scene that breathes dramatically. Its tasteless solidity might make it difficult to admonish in the same way that A Cinderella Story can be torn asunder for its post-modern awfulness, but it won't exactly win Duff any new fans.
