"...it’s absolute rubbish."

The grisly murder of the local sheriff and his family in the town of Salem prompts the arrival of his replacement Sheriff Downs, Bill Oberst Jr. Seeing nothing strange in moving into the house where his predecessor and his family were slaughtered, Downs' suspicions are aroused when more bodies start mounting up around the place. It's not long before Downs discovers the horrible history of the house as the location of the infamous Salem Witch Trials with the victims literally being buried in his backyard.
A Haunting In Salem has all the hallmarks of the classic haunted house flick a la Amityville Horror and Poltergeist, but unlike these movies it's absolute rubbish. Bill Oberst Jr is spectacularly miscast as the somewhat dim-witted hero sheriff and would actually make a better villain, as too are the rest of his moronic family. Unsurprisingly, A Haunting In Salem is yet another cheap cash in movie from The Asylum that once again has a better cover than the film itself. Apparently filmed in 3D (as if an additional dimension would make the film any better), A Haunting In Salem is a criminal waste of 86 minutes of your life.
