“...leaves little room for storyline or real character development...”

An undercover cop, Marek (Roschdy Zem), attempts to infiltrate a hashish smuggling operation made up of crims responsible for the death of his partner some years earlier. Adopting the ‘go-fast' method, the smugglers ship their goods using a combination of ultra-fast speed boats and sports cars - from Morocco, through Spain, to France. A hotchpotch of horsepower, mountain views and empty shell casings, Go Fast is more of a description than a title.

This B-grade effort leaves a familiar taste in the mouth for action fans. The technology and editing is slick, the violence plentiful and the car chases satisfying for rev-heads. The amount of original content in this feature, however, is sadly lacking. The montage used for Marek's undercover training could be mistaken for the Karate Kid, minus the eighties soundtrack, and the film lacks suspense throughout.

While an impressive attempt for a young director, Go Fast leaves little room for storyline or real character development in the midst of constant action. That said, the generous lashing of doof-doof tunes combined with the perpetual cruising of a BMW commercial would generate a certain appeal for those seeking cheap thrills.

Rocschdy Zem does well with the material he's provided but this old lemon is a hard sell.

Special features include cast and crew interviews and deleted scenes.
