To begin with a positive, Dragonquest is filled with great locations. With a bigger budget, the battle scenes staged on these vistas could have been impressive. As it is, the film is hamstrung by distractingly second-rate CGI. If you're going to name a film Dragonquest, you should at least deliver impressive dragons, rather than hokey computerisations awkwardly superimposed on the frame. The story follows Arkadi (Daniel Bonjour), a "chosen one" tasked with the quest of collecting "stones of virtue" to fill a medallion given to him by Grandfather (Gary Miller-Youst), a member of "The Brotherhood". He is on a quest to destroy the dragon summoned by evil sorcerer Kirill (Brian Thompson). Many of the actors appear to be engaged in a scenery chewing contest. Squinted eyes and perpetually thunderous line readings abound, offering camp value for any non-devotees in the audience.
