FILMINK rates DVDs and Blu-rays out of 5"...a very low budget British gangster flick that really stands out amongst the crowd."

More Sexy Beast than Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels, Down Terrace is a very low budget British gangster flick that really stands out amongst the crowd, and is head and shoulders above most films with twice the funds to play with. After a stint in prison, father and son crims Bill (Robert Hill) and Karl (Robin Hill, who also co-wrote the enjoyably salty script) try to discover which one of their associates is a police informer.
Primarily set in a claustrophobic terrace house, the film plays out like a kitchen sink drama interspersed with cups of tea and murder. As the pair delves deeper into their investigation, tensions between Bill and Karl escalate until they reach their final and bloody conclusion.
Down Terrace is an understated movie that boasts great performances from the leads, as well as veteran comic-dramatic actress Julia Deakin (who has appeared in everything from Coronation Street to the cult favourite Spaced) as the particularly cold blooded matriarch Maggie.
An absolute must see, and a finely judged calling card from writer/director-to-watch Robin Hill, a man surely destined to get his hands on a considerably bigger budget in the very near future.
Extras include the trailer and a selection of extended scenes.
