"...a dark and lonely look at suburban life."

Chloe, a remake of French film Natalie, and adapted from a script by Erin Cresida Wilson (Secretary) explores the affluent yet solitary life of Catherine (Julianne Moore) who enlists the services of mysterious escort Chloe (Amanda Seyfried) when she suspects her charismatic professor husband David (Liam Neeson) of having an affair with one of his students. Through the looking glass, Catherine discovers her own dark sexuality and in doing so invites a world of danger into her family.

Once again, director Atom Egoyan (Where The Truth Lies, The Sweet Hereafter) has gotten amazing performances out of his cast. Moore is spectacular, as is Seyfried, two generations of actresses really bringing a dark yet luminous quality in every scene together. Liam Neeson unfortunately finds himself outnumbered but manages to deliver a capable performance.

It's hard to describe the film's distinctively stylish look, but Egoyan is clearly a director with an eye for dressing up the sets and the actors to complement the visual aesthetic of the film.

Boasting a clever twist, Chloe is a dark and lonely look at suburban life. The formula however may not appeal to mainstream audiences. For thriller veterans, however, the film is a refreshing adjustment to the genre.

The DVD release boasts deleted scenes.
