While the storylines veer into the increasingly absurd, this hilarious series just keeps getting better.

Now into its fourth glowing, golden series, the tasty slab of hilarity that is 30 Rock just gets - as impossible as it may seem, considering its initial and continuing quality - better and better as it goes along. With each subsequent season, the show also gets increasingly absurdist, but rather than threaten to send the sitcom careening off the rails, this only strengthens it, adding new shades of weirdness to what started out as a relatively "realist" sitcom.

The chemistry between series star and creator Tina Fey (ever delightful as self effacing comic TV writer Liz Lemon) and Alec Baldwin (as her hyper-intense, all-knowing, station exec boss, Jack Donaghy) remains almost alchemical in its comedic power, and the storylines push the boundaries of not just comic invention, but also good taste.

Riding razor-sharp writing and brilliant performances, this fourth series tackles the search for a new cast member for Liz' comedy show; actor James Franco (hilarious as himself) falling in love with a Japanese body pillow; guest star Julianne Moore pulling a Boston accent thicker than anything in The Town; Jack falling for a financial talk show host (Elizabeth Banks); and Liz hooking up with a handsome pilot (Matt Damon).

Still well and truly rocking, 30 Rock is comic genius, pure and simple.
