When Tomorrow Comes

The main cast of the upcoming Tomorrow When The War Began movie have been announced.

Most of the remaining key cast members for the upcoming production of Tomorrow When the War Began have been announced today, with a collection of Australia's rising stars taking on the roles of beloved Australian fictional characters.

The young actors have mostly come from stage and the small screen, with recognisable faces such as Home and Away's Lincoln Lewis (second from right) taking on the role of Kevin Holmes along with the already announced Caitlin Stasey, most recently starring in Neighbours as Ellie Linton.

Joining them are Andy Ryan (far right), currently starring on Movie Extra Channel's comedy series The Jesters, who will be playing the loner Chris Lang. Andy had previously appeared in a scene-stealing role in the feature film All My Friends Are Leaving Brisbane, and has most memorably appeared in a number of episodes of Filmink TV.

Other cast include Chris Pang as Lee, Deniz Akeniz as Homer Yannos, Phoebe Tonkin as Fiona and Ashleigh Cummings as Robyn.

All of the cast have expressed their excitement in getting the opportunity to approach the roles, exemplified by Lincoln Lewis saying, "I'm an enormous fan of the books. My brother and I would race each other to read all the books in the series. I have always dreamed of the books being made into a film."

Director Stuart Beattie also seemed enthusiastic over the casting of the main characters. "The talent of these young actors is truly formidable and I feel honoured to work with them. Their energy, passion, and commitment is astonishing," he said.

Principal photography on the film will begin at the end of September in the Hunter Valley in NSW. The film will be entirely shot in Australia with production investment from Screen Australia and the New South Wales Department of State and Regional Development.

Tomorrow When the War Began is the first in a series of best-selling novels by John Marsden that follow a group of teenagers who return from a camping trip in the bush to find the country has been invaded and all of their families captured. Together they conduct guerrilla attacks on the enemy to try and fight back for their freedom.
