Tantalising Treat For Tim Burton Fans
From June to October, the ACMI will host a fascinating exhibition which celebrates the work of creative mastermind Tim Burton

Tim Burton fans can delve into the imagination of this visionary director who has produced some of the most revered cult classics and loved films of modern times at Tim Burton: The Exhibition which will be held at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image over the coming months.
Burton says that the experience is a unique one for him. "I feel quite exposed by the experience," the director reflects. "I never imagined my work in a museum, but I am also excited to be able to share them with Melbourne, especially in such a unique way in ACMI's dark and very theatrical gallery."
The major exhibition, presented as part of Melbourne Winter Masterpieces 2010, explores the full scale of Burton's career, as director, concept artist illustrator and photographer, through hundreds of rarely or never-before-seen artworks that illuminate his creative vision.
Arts Minister Peter Batchelor who launched the exhibition says it is a unique experience for any Tim Burton fan. "It traces Burton's lifelong creative endeavours from his earliest childhood drawings to his most recent film, Alice in Wonderland. The exhibition is a glimpse into the mind and imagination of Tim Burton, across his entire career."
Mr Batchelor said the exhibition was the largest ever to be presented in ACMI's Gallery 1, and included items and exhibits created especially for Melbourne. Some highlights include The Edward Scissorhands costume worn by Johnny Depp, three of the original Batman masks worn by Michael Keaton and the suit worn by Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman and storyboards, models and puppets from The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Tim Burton: The Exhibition opens on 24 June and runs until 10 October, 2010 at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, Federation Square, Melbourne. To purchase tickets, visit the ACMI website.
