Sullivan Stapleton Signs On To ‘300’ Prequel
The Aussie actor has beat out the competition to land a role in the upcoming blockbuster.

According to Deadline, Australian actor Sullivan Stapleton - who impressed in Animal Kingdom, but perhaps didn't garner the same level of praise as co-stars Ben Mendelsohn, Jacki Weaver and Joel Edgerton - has just signed on to star in a lead role in 300: The Battle of Artemisia, the prequel to Zack Snyder's 2006 bloody fantasy actioner.
Somewhat curiously at the film's helm is Noam Murro whose only other directorial feature credit is the 2008 indie comedy drama Smart People. Suffice to say, this prequel represents a huge leap for him in terms of scope and tone. The film, which will also star Eva Green, is to be produced by Snyder, who also penned the screenplay with Kurt Johnstad, but all details are under wraps for now.
Since Animal Kingdom, Stapleton had scored roles in last year's acclaimed local film The Hunter alongside Willem Dafoe; Ruben Fleischer's already anticipated period crime flick Gangster Squad alongside Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling and Josh Brolin; and also on the HBO mega-series, Strike Back.
In Australia, the talented actor is probably best known for his television work including regular stints on the series Satisfaction and The Secret Life Of Us.
The date for shooting has not been confirmed yet, but is expected to commence later this year.
