Aussie Film Declares War on Local Box Office
Tomorrow, When The War Began opened with a bang at the Australian box office.

Tomorrow, When The War Began ruled the Australian box office over its opening weekend taking $3,862,193 in its first four days. This takes the film's total box office takings to a total of $3,898,547 including $36,354 from preview sales.
These impressive results have cemented the action-adventure film as the third biggest ever opening for an Australian film behind Happy Feet and Australia (with final box office figures of $31.8 Million and $37.6 Million respectively) and the second biggest ever non holiday opening for an Australian film behind Australia.
The film was also number one at the New Zealand box office where it took NZD$358,653 over the opening weekend. This positions the film in New Zealand as the second biggest ever four day result for an Australian film, coming in ahead of Australia.
Adapted from John Marsden's best-selling and much-loved novel, Tomorrow, When The War Began marked the directorial debut of Stuart Beattie who also penned the script and whose previous screenwriting credits include Australia and Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.
Christopher Mapp, Omnilab Media Managing Director says, "To have the highest opening day box office for an independently financed Australian film in history and the third biggest opening for any Australian film in history is a terrific achievement for all those involved in the film. This encouraging result certainly sets the film on a clear path for a very strong box office result overall."
