Aaron Eckhart & Bill Nighy Descend on Melbourne
The cast of ‘I, Frankenstein’ are hitting our shores with the gothic thriller set to start shooting February 27.

Cast members including Aaron Eckhart, Bill Nighy, Miranda Otto, Yvonne Strahovski (Killer Elite, I Love You Too) and Socratis Otto (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) will call The Garden State home for the next ten weeks as they shoot Stuart Beattie's I, Frankenstein.
The film, which was announced at the end of last year, is set to pick up where Mary Shelley's classic novel left off - following Dr. Frankenstein's creature (Eckhart) into a present day, gothic metropolis. There, he is drawn into an epic power struggle between two immortal clans, a battle which will decide the fate of mankind.
Australian writer/director, Stuart Beattie (who, of course, scored a massive local hit last year with his directorial debut Tomorrow, When The War Began) expands, "Mary Shelley's story is about the creation of the first human being. I, Frankenstein is the story about that being becoming human."
Based on the graphic novel by Kevin Grevioux, the film has also been written for the screen by Beattie (whose other writing credits include the big screen outings Australia, Pirates of the Caribbean and Collateral).
The film - a collaboration between Lakeshore Entertainment and Hopscotch Features - will be produced by Tom Rosenberg (Million Dollar Baby, Underworld), Gary Lucchesi (Primal Fear, Million Dollar Baby), Andrew Mason (The Matrix, Tomorrow When the War Began), Richard S. Wright (The Lincoln Lawyer, Underworld), and Sidney Kimmel (Death at a Funeral, Lars and the Real Girl).
With an expected late 2012 release, Hopscotch/eOne are handling the film in Australia while Lionsgate will be distributing in the US.
